Hello! My name is Maya Blackweasel I am dedicated and passionate individual with deep roots in Fairbanks, AK. My mother, a Koyukon Athabascan raised in Minto, Alaska, she also carries dependency of Tlingit and Aleut heritage, with a strong family presence in Anchorage. My father is from Montana, he is Blackfeet Indian, with a lineage tracing back to his full-blooded Blackfeet grandmother. Growing up in Fairbanks, I have moved around a few times but always considered Alaska my home. This fall I plan to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks to earn my Medical Assistant Certificate. I am honored to be part of RIO, working to encourage voter participation among Alaska Natives, ensuring their voices are heard and their communities represented.
