Meet the Team

  • Jyzzyka Gage

My name is Jyzzyka Gage, and I’m currently working with the Mobilization Center as a temp. Rural Indigenous Outreach, a nonpartisan effort to mobilize Alaska Native & American Indian voters to make sure everyone has a plan to vote for this election.

I grew up on the North Slope, where I was immersed in a vibrant Iñupiat culture. Unfortunately, my parents passed away when I was 12, and I was adopted into a non-Alaskan native family in Kenai, Alaska. This transition brought challenges, including culture shock and adapting to a different lifestyle. Growing up away from my village was difficult, especially with the absence of traditional values.

Today, I am passionate about empowering Alaska Natives to stand firm in their traditional beliefs. To stay deeply connected to my culture, I actively participate in tribal gatherings, provide fish and berries to elders, and continually learn from the diverse regional tribes across Alaska.
